Metronome

The built-in metronome gives you a steady click track to practice to, without needing a separate app.

Opening the metronome

Click the Metronome tab in the navigation bar.

Setting the tempo

  • Type a BPM value directly into the BPM field.
  • Click the + / − buttons to nudge the tempo up or down by 1 BPM.
  • Use Tap Tempo — click the Tap button repeatedly in time with the beat you want. After three or four taps, the BPM field updates to match your average tap interval.

Starting and stopping

Click Play to start the click. Click Stop to stop it. The metronome continues running in the background while you switch to other tabs.

Adjusting the click sound

ControlWhat it does
VolumeHow loud the click is in your mix (0–100%)
PanPositions the click left or right in the stereo field — useful if you want the click on one side only

Host sync (DAW plugin mode)

When Soundshed Guitar is running as a plugin inside a DAW, the metronome can sync to the DAW's transport:

  1. Enable Host Sync in the metronome panel.
  2. The BPM and play/stop controls are now driven by your DAW — the metronome starts when you press Play in the DAW and matches the project tempo.

When host sync is active, the manual BPM field is read-only and shows the tempo coming from the DAW.

Tips

  • Start slow — set the BPM 10–20% slower than your target and build up speed gradually. The metronome makes it obvious when you rush or drag.
  • Use the pan control to keep the click out of a recording. Pan it hard to one side and record only the opposite channel if your setup allows it.
